His recent interests involve connecting devices like the Kinect, Netduino, and robotics platforms to Windows Azure to demonstrate the powerful combination of physical and cloud computing platforms. He also enjoys finding creative ways to use SignalR, the groundbreaking open-source persistent HTTP abstraction.

  • Chris Bowen Chris Bowen Principal Developer Evangelist

    I am a Principal Developer Evangelist for Microsoft, working with the developer communities in the New England and upstate New York areas. My role involves educating customers on development topics, working with user groups and other community organizations, staying technically deep with our development platform and tools, serving as a pipeline between the various product development teams and our customers, and in general fostering a great development community.

    I joined Microsoft having worked as an architect and lead developer at a variety of area companies. I am also co-author of "Essential Windows Communication Foundation" [Addison-Wesley] and "Professional Visual Studio Team System" [WROX]. I hold a B.S. in Management Information Systems and an M.S. in Computer Science, both from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI).

    I'm certainly passionate about computers, programming, and technology, but I also enjoy craft beer, PC and XBox gaming, (being bad at) golf, music, reading and, above all, time with my wife and our two daughters.

  • Chris Koenig Chris Koenig Senior Technical Evangelist for Windows Azure @ Microsoft

    It all started in 1979 with an Atari 800 computer, helping his friend write a simple programming language for his little brother. Since that time, Chris has worked as a developer and architect for dozens of enterprise customers, helping them build compelling applications across their various platforms. After joining Microsoft in the spring of 2007, Chris has helped launch several amazing products including Silverlight, Expression Studio, Windows 7, Visual Studio 2008 & 2010, Windows Phone 7 and 7.5, and most recently the new Windows Azure. Currently, Chris channels his passion for technology by helping to build, grow and enhance the developer communities of North Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Windows Phone 7 in hand, Chris is always eager to share his passion for technology with anyone willing to listen. When he's not evangelizing the latest amazing Microsoft technology, he can be found at home helping with homework, Scout meetings, football games, music studies and chauffeur duties for his 4 children, and experimenting with new and interesting food recipes while planning exciting vacations with his amazing wife.     Chris Risner is a Technical Evangelist at Microsoft, where he focuses on mobile connectivity with Windows Azure.  More specifically, Chris focuses on making it easy to use Windows Azure as your backend for iOS and Android apps.  Prior to working at Microsoft, Chris lead the mobile development team of a Fortune 500 company and was responsible for bringing amazingly engineered applications to mobile devices.     Nick Harris is a Technical Evangelist at Microsoft specializing in Windows Azure. Before Microsoft, he founded his own startup AdGAC a mobile advertising company developed utilizing Windows Azure, WP7 and ASP.NET MVC. In the 9 years prior, Nick worked as both a consultant and Senior Software Engineer delivering smart client applications, distributed enterprise applications and airborne software systems.     His team is responsible for key platform technologies such as the Windows Azure Service Model, Runtime, SDK, Service Management.  He joined Microsoft in 1999 driving platform efforts in the Enterprise Server division.  In 2002 he joined the Mobile and Embedded Devices division, and drove the development platform offering for Windows Mobile and later as the Group Program Manager for the Visual Studio for Devices team.  In 2005 he became the GPM for the Visual Studio Tools Platform team in the Developer Division, and most recently drove the Live Mesh / Windows Live Developer Platform before joining Windows Azure in 2010.  In his spare time, Ori is an avid traveler, enjoys motoring, gaming, and tennis.

    Mr. Ye pursued both undergraduate and graduate study at Center for Life Long Learning and Design at University of Colorado.  After completing his graduate work, Mr. Ye joined SRI International where he focused on design and development of innovative wireless, handheld, and Web-based simulation tools and services.  Mr. Ye returned to Boulder as a developer on the commercialization team at Tech-X Corp, where he developed and productized large-scale HPC software.  Mr. Ye is currently a Windows Azure Technical Evangelist focusing on Big Data and High Performance Computing scenarios at Microsoft Corp.
